ARTISTIC CONCEPT
The Levitation Project explores the art of levitation through striking and poetic imagery. This project invites the viewer to step into a world where gravity seems suspended and where the human body defies the laws of physics.
Mathieu Forget, inspired by the art of movement and travel, uses photography and video to create a sensation of elevation and weightlessness. By traveling to various locations across Europe, the Middle East, and the United States, Mathieu Forget composes scenes where reality and imagination converge. Each photograph tells a singular story - a moment of pure suspension.
Through augmented reality and a QR code integrated into the exhibition, the artist allows viewers to experience his photographs as video, creating an even more unique and immersive encounter.
THE STORY BEHIND THE EXHIBITION
The Levitation Project was born from a simple and universal fascination: suspension.
Throughout human history, people have dreamed of breaking free from gravity - flying, floating, rising. This fantasy runs through the entire history of art, from mythology to contemporary avant-garde movements. For Mathieu Forget, this dream becomes a space for experimentation.
Trained as an athlete and working as a visual artist, he knows intimately the physical reality of a jump: the impulse, the effort, the trajectory, and then the fall. But between the leap and the return to the ground, there exists an almost imperceptible instant - a suspended moment in time.
It is within that interval that The Levitation Project is born.
